El Pelicano by the Sea

Pelicano has an enviable deck with chaise longues and even Balinese sun beds both right in the clear water and on the beach. Hip lounge music plays, but not too loudly. This is the least expensive of the Boca Chica trio of waterfront restaurants and the only one with a beach. Although the cuisine is fairly simple during the day, the chef is more creative with the night menu. The lobster bisque and any fresh fish on the plancha (grill) are always a good bet—especially the garlicky whole red snapper. Las Américas Airport is just 15 minutes away, making this is an ideal place for a long layover.
