Villa La Plantación

Remi Catinot is the exuberant owner and keeper of his classy "castle"—dual, concrete two-story buildings set around a decadent Romanesque pool that offer simple, unadorned rooms about a block from the beach. This is a good home base from which to explore Las Galeras, which is within easy walking distance. Try for a second-floor room with a terrace, like #6 or 7. An inexpensive Continental breakfast is available. The family-style dinners, especially the lobster, may be the best meal you will have in Las Galeras; nonguests can sometimes book, and it's worth it to try if you aren't staying here. The TV bar with international drinks is just another reason why guests comment so favorably.
